Counting, not imaging

PhotonPix counts photons at rates up to 100 MHz and beyond, and is designed to drop into an existing setup rather than replace it.

How to get started

Installation and first measurement

The PhotonPix User Manual covers this in full; the short version is four steps.

1 Mount the module and connect the detector input.
2 Install PhotonPix Control on the host.
3 Configure the overload protection thresholds.
4 Start a measurement.
Applications

Techniques PhotonPix was built for

Counting experiments where the source is bright enough that a conventional counter saturates.

Measurement induced entanglement of stored ions

Stored ions are typical examples for single photon sources that show an antibunched emission statistics. However if two stored ions are brought in an entangled state by simply measuring, interesting phenomena occur.

Everything PhotonPix needs

PhotonPix Control configures the module and reads it out. The user manual is rendered from its Word master.
